At Courageous, we strive to transform lives through the sport of sailing. Our sailing school's instruction team works not only to foster students' love of sailing, adventure and the outdoors, but also to give them the values, skills and confidence that they will need to thrive in their lives beyond Courageous.

And Courageous isn't like your ordinary yacht club. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and our youth program is completely free for all kids ages 8 to 18. Annually, we serve over 1,000 Boston-area youth, making us one of the largest community sailing centers of its kind. Our sailing school runs year-round at four distinct sites located in and around the heart of Boston. We bring together kids from all ethnic and economic backgrounds, and we especially take pride in our ability to bring this sport to those children who would not otherwise be granted such an opportunity in their lives.

The Courageous Youth Program is structured around a step-wise curriculum, a skill-building progression that emphasizes not only excellence insailing and seamanship, but also environmental stewardship and leadership. These steps include: Taste-of-Sailing, Learn-to-Sail, Advanced Sailing, Racing, Cruising, and Instructor Training.
